I made a bootleg of every app I pay for
In 2025 I went through a phase of cloning the apps I use instead of just using them.
jira-local, full description “Jira, but bearable.” A Google Calendar clone with two-way sync. A Todoist clone. A LiveJournal clone, because I missed my old journal and trust nobody to host it. A Last.fm clone that watches my Spotify and writes it all down. Every README says the same two things: single-user, local.
The dream was one app that did all of it, for a brain that can’t hold a calendar and a to-do list in the same thought. I rebuilt that dream app a lot. It is, currently, archived.
So is most of the rest. A private worse Google Calendar is a great Saturday and a rough following Tuesday.
